Jake was born in the small town of Nogi-Bak on the east coast of Cinnabar Island. His father, Thomas Xalrons, was the owner of the Xalrons Research Center in Nogi-Bak. The Xalrons Family is regarded highly in this community and is known for its excellent breeding of Snorlax, as well as the ability to teach Pokémon like Snorlax moves of various types.

Every child in the Xalrons family is given a Snorlax egg at birth. The Snorlax that hatches from this egg will stay with that person for life. Jake knew from an early age that he and the Snorlax that hatched from his egg had a slight psychic bond, but he chose not to let his parents know of his powers; neither of them were psychic and they would not understand.

At the age of ten, Jake recieved his Pokémon license and began to train his Snorlax at the Cinnabar City Pokémon Gym. Although all the trainers at the gym used Fire-type Pokémon, they allowed Jake to train there in hopes that his Snorlax could learn some very powerful Fire-type attacks.

After over a year of practice, Jake's Snorlax was still unable to use any Fire-type attacks. It became apparent that Jake's Snorlax was only capable of using Psychic techniques. In accordance with the official Pokémon League rules, Jake was no longer allowed to train at the Gym. Jake's parents were disappointed in him, and eventually grew cold and distant.

Angered and disillusioned, Jake left Nogi-Bak for his own Pokémon journey. Using Snorlax's bouyancy to float on the sea, Jake drifted from island to island for more than five years. He traveled to islands in the southern Kanto and southern Johto areas, and even to some islands in the Orange Archipelago, and caught Pokémon from all over these regions.

At 16, Jake found his way to Team Rocket's Omega Island. Enthusiastic to be part of such a glorious organization, Jake immediately joined Team Rocket. Here he was seen as a valuable part of the team due to the extensive knowledge of Pokémon techniques and breeding he learned at the Xalrons Research Center.

Omega is where Jake has been for the past three years. During his time he has here he has advanced through the ranks to become the commander of Division Six, which is The Boss's hand-picked team. Jake has helped to make this base what it is today, and has obtained countless Pokémon to further Team Rocket's cause.
